Economic Development is a key priority within the coalition initiatives. The coalition supports minority and women owned business enterprises within our community, in effort to improve the overall economic landscape. This includes convening the Campus-Community Compact, working with business owners to provide resources and information, and identifying barriers within communities that have historically been underserved.
Business Pop Ups
Business Pop Ups are an entrepreneurial space that allows small minority and women owned businesses to break into the market. Business Pop Ups are an opportunity for small business owners to promote their business, network, and gain insight from community residents. These Pop Ups typically take place at Hedge Pop! Park for Champaign residents and Market at the Square for Urbana residents.
Business Elevator
Business Elevator is an entrepreneurial ecosystem of resources and services, that teaches business development skills. They assist in an entrepreneur’s early journey to start a business by helping to develop ideas, create business plans and hosting business workshops.
